People see the cute flat lays and think running Boundless is all soft lighting and journaling at golden hour with a playlist going and good skin.
Sometimes it is.
But also, truly, it is not.
Here's what nobody shows you.
The packaging phase
There is a point in every restock cycle where my space stops being a room and becomes a fulfilment centre. Boxes everywhere. Tissue paper on every surface. Me, on the floor, surrounded by planners, trying to remember which order needs the pink ribbon and which one needs the green one, questioning every decision that led me here.
The orders get packed beautifully in the end. The process to get there is a whole journey.
The decision fatigue is real
Every single day there are decisions. Which product to push this week. What caption actually sounds like me. Whether this photo is good enough or needs to be retaken in better light. Whether the pricing makes sense. Whether the shipping timeline is realistic. Whether I replied to that DM or just opened it and got distracted.
Nobody warns you that the hardest part of running a small brand is not the big scary things. It's the hundred small decisions that quietly drain you by 3pm and leave you staring at your laptop eating crackers for dinner.
The Lagos factor
Running a business in Lagos adds its own special flavour to everything. Power cuts at inconvenient moments. Traffic that turns a 20 minute errand into a two hour event. Network issues exactly when you need to make an urgent transfer. You plan for things and then Lagos looks at your plan and laughs warmly but firmly.
You adapt. You build buffer time into everything. You learn to find it funny because the alternative is not fun.
The part that makes all of it worth it
Someone sent me a message not too long ago. She said the Little Drops Planner was the first planner she had ever actually used consistently. Not just bought and placed on her shelf to feel organised. Actually used, every day, for the whole quarter.
I read that message about four times.
Because that is why I am doing this. Not the aesthetic, not the cute packaging, not even the business side of it. The fact that something I made helped someone move through their days with a little more intention. That is the part I hold onto on the days when everything feels like a lot.
Boundless is genuinely a lot of work. It's chaotic sometimes and humbling often and occasionally involves me on the floor surrounded by ribbon at midnight.
But it's mine. And I'm proud of it.
